Bishops Waltham Parish Fishing Club

Matches still cancelled due to lockdown, pleasure fishing allowed as local exercise and some dangerous trees cut down

Matches cancelled but pleasure fishing still allowed during lockdown

There is not a lot to report this month as match fishing is still cancelled due to the Covid lockdown. Pleasure fishing is allowed as part of allowed exercise, provided it is local. The Government had a change of mind after initially saying pleasure fishing was not allowed. They were lobbied by the Angling Trust who convinced them, provided social distancing was observed, that fishing was important as a relaxation from a mental point of view during lockdown.

Some of the dangerous trees cut down

Following the recent storms several trees around the South Pond were damaged or leaning. The Parish Council arranged for the trees to be assessed and any dangerous ones cut down. To date two trees have been cut down near the sluice at the Palace ruins end of the South Pond. Further work may be required.

March and April activities

With the current lockdown all activities, including matches and work parties, are cancelled until further notice. Check our web site www.bwpfc.org.uk for the latest information. Hopefully, now that vaccination is being rolled out, things will begin to return to normal, but probably not until May at the earliest.
