A large number of trophies are available to be won during the season. The trophies cover different aspects of the sport including match fishing, specimen hunting, services to the club and recognition of achievements by our junior members.
The match fishing trophies are awarded for the match series and evening matches, the specimen fish trophies include fish from club waters and/or day tickets waters. A specimen fish form should be submitted to a committee member to make a claim. Where ‘Club waters’ are specified they include exchange ticket waters e.g. Staunton Park or Swelling Hill pond.
Tom Duke Trophy: For the largest carp from the Mill Pond.
Harry Bussey Trophy: For the best predatory fish from a club water or day ticket water. This is usually awarded for a pike but may be won for a good perch or eel.
Nigel Freemantle Trophy: For the largest carp caught by an under 16 junior member from the Mill Pond.
Tench Trophy: For the best tench from Club waters.
Roach Trophy and Bream Trophy: For the best roach and bream from Club waters or on a club trip.
Sportspot Trophy: For the most promising (in the committee’s opinion) under 15 junior member.
Ken David Trophy: Awarded for services to the club.
Senior Match Series: Trophies are awarded to the top three positions. A minimum of 6 matches must be fished. Points will awarded as follows: 1st 10 points, 2nd 8 points, 3rd 7 points, 4th 6 points, 5th 5 points, 6th 4 points, 7th 3 points, 8th 2 points, 9th 1 point.
Junior Match Series: Trophies are awarded for the top three positions (calculated on combined weight. A minimum of 4 matches must be fished). The winner also gets complimentary membership for the following season.
Evening Match: A trophy will be awarded to the angler (senior or junior) who finishes with the heaviest weight overall.
Mermaid Trophy: The winner of this trophy is always kept a secret until the night of the AGM. It is awarded by the committee to the person they consider made the ‘biggest splash’ during the season – often through unintentionally falling into the pond.
Heaviest Match Weight: Awarded for the heaviest bag in a match series (excluding evening match).
Fairlawn Trophy: Awarded to a junior for an achievement at the discretion of the committee.
Martin Eustace Memorial Shield: Open to both senior and junior members. Awarded for best weight.
Point’s only trophy: Open to both senior and junior members. Awarded for the most fish caught during the point’s only match. One fish = 1 point.
Carp Match Trophy: Awarded to the angler with the heaviest weight of carp caught during the carp only match.
Silver Fish Senior: A trophy will be awarded to the senior with the heaviest weight of silver fish caught during the silver fish only match.
Silver Fish Junior: A trophy will be awarded to the junior with the heaviest weight of silver fish caught during the silver fish only match.
